Goalkeeper coaches hold workshop at NEKA

As a final part of the classes, the attendees of the 110-hour course on goalkeeper coaching launched by the International Coaching Education Centre (ICEC) of the Hungarian Handball Federation (HHF) participated in a two-day professional workshop at the National Academy of Handball (NEKA) in Balatonboglár. The comprehensive programme included theoretical lectures and practical training demonstrations offered by renowned professionals and excellent goalkeepers.

The organizers have put together a varied and meaningful programme for the goalkeeper coaches and the professionals who were to renew their licences.

“During the core training course, everyone receives the knowledge and competencies they need to use as a goalkeeper coach, and every year there is a topical area that may become a little more emphasized. The theoretical lectures of this year’s professional workshop focused on topics such as the goalkeeper's relationship with the team, or certain pedagogical methods, training theory peculiarities, while by the means of practical exercises goalkeeper training can be made even more targeted in the future”– summarized dr. Zoltán Marczinka, director of HHF ICEC the contents of the professional workshop.

The speakers of the first day included dr. László Hoffmann, István Juhász, Dénes Varga, Imre Bíró and Haris Porobic, while the practical training sessions next day were held by Dénes Varga, Ákos Vártok, Melinda Pastrovics, Bea Hoffmann, Haris Porobic and István Bakos.

They first launched a goalkeeper coaching course two years ago with the objective of helping the job of coaches trying to offer more assistance in those areas, which they are less proficient in.
