Eat well, be well

2020. February 03, Monday 16:02 | Scientific background

Based on an agreement between the University of Physical Education (TE) and the National Academy of Handball (NEKA), signed at the beginning of the 2019 academic year, NEKA students and staff will be able to follow professional lectures titled "Sports Nutrition for Better Performance" for a duration of ten months.

So far, four lectures have been held, and based on the feedback, the programme is very popular among students and professional staff. After the first presentation as an introductory, appetizer event, the listeners could hear a lot of interesting and useful information about the scientific background of sports nutrition. The aim of the workshops, both theoretical and practical, is to familiarize NEKA students with various topics related to nutrition science. So far, the importance of carbohydrate and protein intake and the role of sufficient liquid consumption have been discussed in the lectures by prof. dr. Éva Martos, professional director and Boglárka Csapláros-Nagy, co-worker of the Centre for Sports Nutrition Science.

As a result of the presentations, NEKA's restaurant has modernized its daily diet, which encourages young people to adopt healthier eating habits. The successful programme series continues in February with another very useful topic, addressing the importance of proper eating habits on match days.
