National team camps in Balatonboglár

2019. September 25, Wednesday 18:01 | International training centre

Three national teams of different age groups hold their respective training camps at the National Academy of Handball this week.

The women’s teams will practice in test matches against NEKA. Szilárd Kiss jr. works with the European Championships winning squad who took gold in Slovenia this summer. Next summer a big journey awaits the girls as the World Championships will be held in 2020 in China.

Zsolt Kopornyikworkedwith the boys’ U16 squad for two days. The head coach has not invited any NEKA player into the team, instead of that had a closer look at the twenty athletes at his disposal from the nationwide selection of sixty players.

„We would like to offer a chance for every young player, as for this moment we trained together on Tuesday and Wednesday with twenty boys, but these two days have only been the lobby, the first phase of the selection process. We will also suggest people, and the national team squad names will only be communicated following multiple joint sessions” – as Zsolt Kopornyik discussed the principles of selection.

The girls U15 national team led by Beáta Bohus and dr. Péter Woth did train in their camp without its NEKA players, since on Wednesday they played exactly against the academy team.

„We take every opportunity to get to know the sixty members of the squad chosen and proposed by the clubs. The door is open for everybody, so we try to give the chance for as many players as possible. There will be an ORV (NB. Tournament of Olympic Hopefuls) competition in November, so we are preparing for that one firstly” – said head coach Beáta Bohus.
