Packed schedule and exciting topics at the IHF seminar

2020. March 07, Saturday 20:30 | International training centre

Spectacular training presentations and interesting lectures followed each other on this Saturday’s seminar organised by the International Handball Federation. The hands-on exercises were demonstrated by international professionals and the trainers of the NEKA women’s teams, with help from Balatonboglár’s schoolchildren participating in NEKA’s Elf Programme and the students of the Academy; while prof. dr. h. c. Lajos Mocsai gave a lecture to IHF’s coaches and trainers.

Work began already in the morning this Saturday at the prestigious IHF event, while three groups were created again. The members of the workgroup focusing on in-school handball education attended a training presentation in the NEKA Sports Hall, where the teams were composed of the “elves” of Balatonboglár. Meanwhile, on the other sports field, participants could watch activities related to referee-training, assisted by several Hungarian referees.

In the conference room, prof. dr. h. c. Lajos Mocsai, rector of the University of Physical Education, and director-general of sports and sports sciences, gave a presentation entitled “How to raise talent”, in which he talked about multiple segments of talent development, mentioning examples such as the well-constructed quality training with outstanding professionals that is ongoing at National Academy of Handball.

The afternoon program followed with trainings, which presented exercises for the individual development of handball players, including exercises conducted by international professionals and demonstrated by NEKA’s players. Women’s coaches – János Hajdu, Beáta Bohus, Beáta Siti, and dr. Péter Woth – presented a truly innovative teaching method, demonstrating the technical equipment park’s everyday and training-wise practical solutions.

This IHF event saw the participation of professional and experts from all across the world, who did not shy away from any opportunity to chat and discourse on handball.

“The collaboration between the International Handball Federation, NEKA and the University of Physical Education has begun two years ago; and hosting such a prestigious event is one of its important milestones. We are proud of this, it is a great opportunity for us, and we have already received requests – for example from Germany – for starting research work that would use the infrastructure and expertise of the University o Physical Education and the National Academy of Handball. ” – Lajos Mocsai pointed out the significance of the seminar.
