Four more laureates

2020. January 16, Thursday 23:14 | Talent Development

Considering the performance of NEKA handball players, our two male and two female students were recognised with the Best Academy Student of the Month award.

In December, Gréta Juhász, Kata Juhász, Tamás Papp and Gábor Temesvári were picked by the experts. The four winners were congratulated by Tamás Mocsai, Executive Director of the National Academy of Handball and handed over their well-deserved sports vouchers.

The award ceremony on Wednesday night started in a great atmosphere, since – as Tamás Mocsai mentioned in his welcome address – the Hungarian national team had a brilliant victory against Iceland at the men's handball European Championship. In addition, our student Nina Szabó scored five goals on her debut in a national championship match against Ferencváros for the team of Kisvárda, where she is on loan for the spring season.

The announcement of the names of the winners out of the candidates for the prize of the best students of the month were greeted with a big round of applause. Gábor Temesvári is among the best for the second time, while the other three youngsters have earned the title for the first time.

The best are being rewarded every month, which can be a motivation for all NEKA athletes.

About the nominees

Gréta Juhász: She won the European Youth Championship with the national team in the summer and has been performing well for a long-time as a member of the NEKA team. Our back player was particularly good at the championship matches in the last month of the year as well as at the Balatonboglár international tournament for national teams. Through her exemplary training and work attitude, she has been a solid member in each of her teams, and deservedly became the best student of the month for December.

Kata Juhász: She started as a back player at the academy, but her position has been changed in order to become a pivot, and she has succeeded to fit into that role wonderfully. It is a sign of her fantastic attitude and humble work approach that she has not backed away from the task and is trying to make the most of her new position. In December, she played with the U15 national team in the Olympic Hopes Competition in Poland, where she was selected as the best line player.

Tamás Papp: In December, he won the international tournament with the youth national team in Balatonfüred, where the Hungarian team faced strong opponents. As a young pivot, he is a member of the NEKA second division (NB I / B) and youth teams. He is a motivated player and diligently working in every training session, strives for his best to help the team in its matches, no matter how much playing time he spends on the court.

Gábor Temesvári: Our outstanding right back player receives the recognition for the best student of the month for the second time. His excellent work in training is complemented by remarkable study results, he receives more and more responsibilities with the NEKA men's team in the second division (NB I / B), the youth league and the youth national team as well. He has evolved a lot in both defense and attack.
