The 17 years old player shared her thoughts on the upcoming league challenges as well as support by her family and motivational matters.
„This success required a lot of work; without that it is impossible to keep up the intensity match after match. We had four weeks of massive preparations, besides the physical tests we also played plenty of test matches. It has been tough, but finally every moment looks nicer. We were ten players from the academy where we work with Szilárd Kiss jr. throughout the year, so we know him well both as trainer and as national team coach. Players coming from the other clubs have brought additional colours into our game, they also were important for this victory.”
In the opinion of many the strength of the Hungarian team had to do with its real team spirit, since the girls fought for each other on the court; Viki agreed on that one:
„Our community has truly been fantastic. We have become a Team in the true sense of the word, the personalities only moved us forward. Against the Danes we had a short insecure period, but we overcame that one in time and this experience also was necessary to be confidently winning two days later in the final. Another advantage for us was that we had more information about our opponents, we watched a lot of video material. I had more tasks in defence, in my opinion I could solve them well, while as a left back I also did as much as I could.”
Viki is a thin girl, yet she manages to be successful against bigger opponents, and as an intercepting front player she stole several balls in spectacular fashion in the Euro Championships.
„Obviously it is harder for me, since I need to anticipate more the moves of the others, and check who does what, but by dynamics you can win a lot, and video recordings also help in preparation. I find it hard to gain weight, therefore beside the gym trainings I need to do plenty of fitness practice, which is all available here at the academy. Luckily my shoulder injury is gone, the half year break was tough, but a thing of the past, so now I can fully focus on handball.”
Viki’s family is a sporting one, so motivation and willpower has never been a problem, her parents always give her some encouragement or piece of advice.
„My mother played first league basketball, my father is a handball coach at NEKA, so both of them can help me. After the matches I can discuss anything with them, sometimes even jokingly, and daddy behaves as an everyday father. Maybe many do not believe this, since he is known as a rigorous trainer. I am lucky that my parents always know what I need. Or in case they do not, then I can handle it within myself.”
The women’s team of NEKA has set its goal to finish first in the second division championships. Reaching this does not seem to be a simple task. Viktória Woth, however, thinks positively:
„We would like to be promoted to the first division; the team is good, we are young and are in an excellent shape. If we work well, this dream can come true.”
