NEKA Selection Day, a popular event

2019. October 29, Tuesday 20:02 | Talent Development

More than 270 young boys and girls applied this year for the Selection Day of the National Academy of Handball (NEKA).

During the two-day event, young people from not only Hungarian clubs, but also from Slovakian, Romanian, German and Serbian clubs came to show their talent.

In the first round, NEKA specialists focused on ball skills, explosiveness, speed and decision-making, watching the children in training and match situations.

“We are delighted that every year more and more people want to be involved with NEKA, a recognition of the professional work done here, and the 18 championship titles achieved in six years. Beyond abilities, we also take into account the mentality, so if one falls, do not cry, if you lose the ball, do not stop, if there is need to help your mate, then help. The children we call back after the first round take measurements in the second round, these objective results and our subjective opinion together give a complex picture of a talent” – as János Hajdu, NEKA's head of sports, summed up the information.

All applicants will receive written notice of the selection day results by November 10, and the best talented children will be invited to the second round on December 2 and 3.
