The young playmaker of NEKA, Nina Szabó, is on loan to play in the first division (NB I) team of Kisvárda this spring.

The 19-year-old player who will attend her first joint training session with the team on Wednesday, has shown impressive performances in the first division club's friendly matches in December. Therefore, according to head coach Botond Bakó she can be a good solution for the team having been forced to skip the services of many of its playmakers.

Nina Szabó,one of the key players for NEKA, has been showing excellent displays in the second division (NB I / B) championship, where she scored 54 goals in 11 games, besides doing well in the youth first division. Of course, our player finds it an important step forward to play for a club in the top national division.

“I am really excited, and it is a huge opportunity to be on a first division team. This is a new level, but I will do my best to prove myself in the matches and to learn as much as possible in Kisvárda. This semester school leaving exams also await me, but I try to meet the expectations on all levels” – said Nina Szabó.

Kisvárda head coach Botond Bakó took over the head coach duties with the team in the summer. The coach said he was giving more opportunities to the young handball player coming from the academy.

“The playmaker position has always been a question mark for the club, as one of our players who arrived in the summer did not get fit from a serious injury, and it turned out that our core player, Tamara Radojevic, was ready for maternity leave, so we had to take action. After my attention had been drawn to Nina Szabó, I watched several of her matches and talks began with NEKA leaders and coaches. We had planned anyway to add more Hungarian young players to the team for next season. The arrival of Nina fits into this process, her trials in December did go well, and I think her inclusion would solve our situation perfectly. Our goal is to continue building up her career, with its solid foundations courtesy of NEKA, by also getting plenty of first division playing experience.”– said Botond Bakó to our website.

According to the coach of Nina Szabó, Szilárd Kiss jr., this is a serious step for the talented playmaker who is able to seize the opportunity.

"I believe that as a hub for talent development, one of our main tasks is to do all we can to set the improvement of our players, in accordance with their interests, at the top of our priorities. The opportunity has come about, so, of course, we support her and trust that she will prove herself in the first division. Nina is a strong-willed athlete with a great attitude, has got good eyes on the court, has developed a lot, and of course we still count on her returning to us” – said Szilárd Kiss jr.

According to the loan agreement, Nina Szabó will play for the team of NEKA in the most important second division (NB I/B) games, while she is expected to play for Kisvárda, currently ranked 10th in the league table, in the first division match against Ferencváros on January 15.
